Ever been stuck with this shot ? 5 ball dead into a rail.  A very tough cut shot which may require a hard hit to accomplish. Play safe instead and give it worse than you got it ?  How would you play safe in this situation?

Just a hair off center I would strike the 5 ball a little to the left of dead on. I wouldn't hit it hard medium speed at most. A little center / bottom is required to keep the cue ball in control and to kill it behind the 9 ball.  The 5 being struck full faced will roll to the other end of the table leaving your opponent with a tough snookered shot which even without the snooker is a tough one to deal with.
